Volunteers — An Essential Part of Our Team
Volunteers provide invaluable support and care to our hospice patients and families There are many ways to serve as a volunteer at Companion Hospice.
Direct Care Volunteers
Direct care volunteers are specially trained to work directly with patients and families in homes, nursing facilities, hospitals and assisted living centers. They may provide respite (rest) for caregivers by sitting with patients, make patient visits to provide socialization or grief support, run errands, write letters, read to patients or assist them with other needs.
Administrative Service Volunteers
These volunteers receive training to answer phones, assemble information packets, file paperwork, prepare mailings, write acknowledgments, greet family members or guests, and assist in other office needs.
Special Events and Programs Volunteers
These volunteers may help with the annual memorial service, bereavement group meetings, community grief and loss support groups, or assist with making lap quilts and other patient and family gift items.
